池田 英樹 作品展 『やさしくあって』
― I wish the world were gentle ―
写真を撮れば撮るほど、 ファインダーを通して切り取る景色は、 「世界はこうあってほしい」という願い、祈りのように感じます。
子供の頃、僕は大人の顔色をうかがって過ごしていたように思います。
少しの言動で不機嫌になる大人たち。
学校では、空気を読み、歩調を合わせなければ標的になる教室。
怒られないように、波風を立てないように。 そんなことばかり考えていた少年時代でした。
大人になった今でも、人と話すときは怖さを感じることがあります。
「自分の言葉が、誰かを不機嫌にさせたり怒らせてしまわないだろうか」 そんな不安が、心のどこかに常にあります。
だからこそ、僕が撮る写真や映像には 「やさしい世界であってほしい」という強い願いが込められています。
これは、僕が見つけた日常の記録であり、 世界はこうあってほしいという祈りでもあります。
ここにある景色が、あなたにとってもやさしい時間となりますように。
本個展では2020年から撮り溜めてきた写真と映像を展示します。

“May the World Be Gentle” ― I wish the world were gentle ―
The more photographs I take, the more I feel that the scenery I capture through my viewfinder is a wish—a prayer that says, “This is how I want the world to be.”
As a child, I spent my days constantly gauging the moods of adults. I was surrounded by adults who would turn sullen at the slightest word or action. At school, the classroom was a place where failing to “read the air” or keep pace with others meant becoming a target. I tried so hard not to be scolded, not to make waves. My boyhood was spent constantly worrying about such things.
Even now as an adult, I sometimes feel fear when speaking with others. “Will my words unintentionally offend someone or make them angry?” That anxiety still lingers somewhere deep in my heart.
That is precisely why the photographs and videos I create are imbued with a strong wish: “I want the world to be gentle.”
To simply exist in peace, bathed in soft light.
This is a record of the daily life I have found, and simultaneously, a prayer for how I wish the world to be.
It is my hope that the scenery here brings a moment of gentleness to your heart as well.
